Our newest school
The Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) is a K-8 charter school with two campuses formed by the merger of two successful charter schools that have been operating in the Grant Park and Ormewood Park neighborhoods since 2002. Both schools have received recognition from the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement for outstanding student performance. Their school mission is “to be a dynamic learning community where students become life-long learners, develop self-knowledge, and are challenged to excel.”
The IB’s history
The IB was founded in 1968, when a group of innovative educators saw a need for an international approach to education that would equip young people with the skills, values and knowledge necessary to build a more peaceful future. They aimed to create an education that was academically rigorous, with a school leaving qualification that would be accepted by top universities around the world. Combining their collective skills, experience and expertise in all areas of education, they created the IB Diploma Programme – the first of our four programmes to be developed. From this strong foundation, educators have continued to develop and co-create the education , and today we remain just as true to our founding ethos and values of creating a better world through education with the support of our 5,000-strong community.
