The independent.co.uk talks about the lessons and skills learned by students in the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

"Before starting the IB I felt extremely intimidated," admits Josh Hammond, a student at St Clare's school, Oxford. "I had heard countless complaints about the difficulties of the IB. But, once you get going, you become more efficient at time management and the work seems less daunting."

Jennifer Nadel knows from her son’s experience that the step up from GCSE to the DP can be quite large. Her son is now at UWC Atlantic College and from his difficulties she learned that “children have to find their own motivation.”

The hard work associated with the DP reaps many rewards, such as developing a broad, inquiring mind, self-discipline and language skills. All these are skills important for living a balanced lifestyle, and they’re valued by universities and employers.
