IB Principal awarded 2015 National Distinguished Principals Award

Michael Schooler, Elementary School Principal at the International Community School of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has been awarded the 2015 National Distinguished Principals Award from the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).

This award honours exceptional elementary and middle school principals from each of America’s 50 states, and American overseas schools assisted by the Office of Overseas Schools, U.S. Department of State. 

Michael has had over 25 years of experience in education including a positive career with the IB. He has been an IB workshop leader, consultant, accredited team leader and was successful in obtaining Primary Years Programme (PYP) authorization for his previous school. This year he continues his contribution by leading the International Community School of Addis Ababa through PYP candidacy.

In addition, he is widely involved in improving the Ethiopian community. Such contributions include helping public school students with the means to be fed during the day and also providing training to public school educators and leaders to better their practices.
