IB Diploma Programme students at Verdala International School in Malta, have found a way to provide waiting passengers with an exact arrival time of their bus.
The team of 13 students, led by Seif Abdelkader, have created a near-perfect estimate of when buses will arrive at a given stop by calculating the speed the bus is travelling at and the level of traffic that the bus is encountering.
The students entered into the Young Enterprise Company Programme in the hope of gaining support in producing a fully-functioning prototype of their TravelX app idea. The team states they will donate 95% of the proceeds of this app to charity as their aim is to address a social need, rather than to maximize profit.
