More than 11,750 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) students around the world are today receiving their results from the November 2015 examination session.

This marks a 9 percent increase compared with last year and they join a community of more than 1,636,000 DP graduates in 139 countries across the world. The number of students who received their diplomas in 2015 in all exam sessions is 63,141 giving a 6.1 percent increase compared with 2014.

The November 2015 session showcases an average diploma score of 30.98 points (of 45 possible maximum), with 81 students achieving a perfect score. It also highlights the consistency of the global IB DP pass rate, which remains stable even as the community of IB students continues to grow.

“I want to congratulate all of the Diploma Programme graduates, and to wish them the very best as they proceed to their next phase of learning,” says Dr Siva Kumari, IB Director General. “Their preparation for entry to higher education is second to none and across the world reputed universities continue to appreciate DP graduates as holistically well rounded individuals who contribute immensely to their chosen institution.

“Independent studies continue to confirm that the IB increases students’ academic achievement, as well as the probability of high school graduation and the probability of college enrolment, so we know that our students are well prepared to succeed in post-secondary settings. And, perhaps more importantly, they’re prepared to make important and inspiring contributions to help make the world a better place. Along with our schools, we at the IB are proud of the calibre of these future citizens.”

In 2015 more than 580,780 examination papers were processed in 79 languages, making it the largest number of exams conducted at the IB since the introduction of the Diploma Programme in 1968. Examiners teamed up across the world to establish accurate grading criteria across subjects and ensure consistency across the evaluation process.

IB Chief Assessment Officer, Carolyn Adams, says: “I wish IB students good luck as they receive their results. This is the culmination of all their hard work and studying. It is also testament to the dedication and professionalism of the IB examiners from over 140 countries who work so hard to deliver these results.”
