Hosted annually in Austin, SXSW EDU represents a global platform where ideas intersect and education leaders connect across borders. As the IB continues its sponsorship for a second year, the event provides an opportunity to showcase how IB World Schools are making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and educators on a local, national, and global level.
The IB has been present in the US since 1971 and today supports a thriving network of schools across the country, including 184 IB World Schools in Texas. As the state continues to experience significant growth and economic transformation, the IB is working alongside schools and districts to help students develop the critical thinking, multilingual and intercultural competencies needed to thrive in a globally connected world.
SXSW EDU also brings together international delegations and diverse perspectives, reflecting the IB’s own global community. Through its four rigorous programmes, the IB equips learners with strong academic foundations, transferable skills, and a mindset oriented towards curiosity, collaboration and leadership. This approach supports career exploration, postsecondary success, and meaningful participation in local and global communities alike.
