The International Baccalaureate (IB) is delighted to announce the launch of the first IB Community Inspiration Award, an annual honour presented to members of the IB community who make a significant impact in furthering the organisation’s mission and values.

Throughout its long history, the IB has had the privilege of sharing incredible stories that speak to how various members of its community have made, and continue to make, impactful local and global contributions within their communities – inspiring “more IB” in everything they do. The award is the first in IB history to formally recognise this excellence on an individual level.

From 2026, the IB Community Inspiration Award will be presented to three winners each year, representing Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The award is open to students, alumni, parents, educators, administrators, or anyone with direct ties to an IB school, association, network or system.

If you have a certain someone in mind, you can nominate them for the award via this online form. The nomination window is now open and set to close on 14 November 2025.

Winners will be chosen by a committee based on four key criteria:

  • Use of Voice – How the nominee uses their voice effectively – whether locally, nationally, and/or globally – to support the IB’s mission and advocate for “more IB”.
  • Impact – How the nominee’s role and contributions demonstrate sustained impact reflective of IB community values.
  • Innovation – How the nominee takes risks and overcomes obstacles to drive innovation, in line with the IB learner profile.
  • Shared Humanity – How the nominee exemplifies the qualities of being human, such as caring, compassion and open-mindedness.

There is no limit to inspiration. As the IB seeks to create a better, more peaceful world, it’s time to celebrate those who bring this mission to life, doing so at the very heart of their communities.

We encourage you to consider who in your community you might like to see recognised, and eagerly await the first wave of your nominations.

Submit your nomination here and join us in recognising those who bring the IB mission to life in their communities.
