THE HAGUE, 31 July 2014 – The International Baccalaureate (IB) is pleased to announce that Dr. John B. Bader will join the organization effective August 1 as Chief External Academic Relations Officer. John will lead the External Academic Relations Division and oversee the activities of Research and University, Alumni and Parent Relations at IB.

These passions will serve him and our entire IB community well as we embark on this exciting journey together.”
John brings to his exemplary leadership and management skills and expertise across a range of disciplines from nearly 30 years of experience in education, communications and marketing, university relations, research and alumni and parent relations. He began his career as a secondary school teacher before working in a variety of roles in the business and non-profit sectors, academic research and application, journalism and politics. He served most recently as the Executive Director of the Colonial Academic Alliance, a consortium of ten American Universities, to further its mission of promoting teaching innovation, expanding student opportunities, research and more, and at global counselling, tutoring and test preparation firm Marks Education as Director for International Programs. Prior to this, John served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs at Johns Hopkins University from 2001-2011, leading international initiatives to establish and promote a more supportive and worldly student experience, and as National Scholarship Advisor, serving as a mentor and coach to more than one hundred Rhodes, Marshall, Truman and Fulbright scholars.

John developed a global perspective and interest early in his life as a result both of spending some of his childhood in France and later as a Fulbright Scholar to India. His education, research and writing demonstrate his interest in understanding societies and how citizens understand their own country and others, and through the years he has helped to shape a variety of communications and messages. He is the author of Dean’s List: Eleven Habits of Highly Successful College Students in which he offers critical and helpful guidance to students navigate the transition to college, as well asTaking the Initiative: Leadership Agendas in Congress and the "Contract With America".
John holds a Ph.D. and Masters in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale.
